"The American Dream" is the greatest symbol of attainment and achievement in this world. It is also the greatest cross-cultural symbol of attainment and achievement in this world. It means many things to many people. For some, it means things material - houses, cars, vacations... For others, it means things ethereal - happiness, satisfaction from attaining goals, the development of self-confidence... It is not just American - having become a dream of many cultures. It is honored by many because the dream is, fundamentally, about attainment and self- and others-advancement - and not necessarily about material advancement.
